What is the 24-Hour Komixathon?
The 24-Hour Komixathon is a 24-hour komix making contest, sponsored by Flipside Publishing during the 2012 Summer Komikon. A 24-hour komix is a komix written, drawn, inked, colored, proofread, and published all in the span of 24 hours. Hence, there should be no preparation or preproduction work (sketches, summaries, design) done prior to the 24-hour timeframe – all work must be done within those 24 hours.
24-Hour Komixathon Mechanics
* The contest is open to all Filipino individuals and groups (even those outside of the country).
*All entries must be original works of the participants.
* Registration is from April 25, 2012 until May 18, 2012. Interested participants should email adam@flipside.ph to register. There are no registration fees. Registered participants will be emailed instructions on how to upload their submissions.
*The 24-hour Komixathon proper is from noon of May 19, 2012 to noon of May 20, 2012.
*Participants will be given access to the Komixathon site, where they can upload their pages during the 24-hour period. Participants and readers can leave comments on the uploaded pages.
* The 24 hours is continuous but finite – participants can rest, eat, and sleep in between making their komix, but they have to finish it within those 24 hours.
* There are no restrictions when it comes to length of the comic, so the comics can be one page short or ninety-nine pages long. The pages can be in any size.
*There is no prescribed theme to the entries. Komikeros may write/draw about any subject matter, as long as the submissions contain no libelous, scandalous, defamatory, obscene, and unlawful matter, and does not infringe or violate right of privacy or copyright, or any other right.
* Entries must be minimum 150 dpi in JPG, GIF, or PNG format. Entries can be in either English or Filipino.
* All submitted entries remain property of their creators.
* Three winners will be chosen by Flipside’s appointed judges. One winner, the reader’s choice vote, will be open to public voting between May 21, 2012 to May 25, 2012. All winners will be announced during the Summer Komikon on May 26, 2012.
* Winners will be awarded a three-book publishing contract with Flipside Publishing Services, Inc.. Winner will be announced on May 26, 2012, at the Summer Komikon 2012.
